Vermillion Discovers COVID Related Safety Issue for the benefit of NASA
During the height of the Pandemic, Vermillion discovered a safety issue with a product commonly used for verification and certification of ESD workstations for Government and Industry.
Vermillion was not only able to identify, but also to mitigate the risk of handling ultrasensitive devices during the NASA Annual ESD Certification process. At the time of this amazing discovery, no Mission Critical flight hardware was in process for build or assembly on the workstations during the shut down.
As for other industries (e.g. semiconductor, medical device and automotive), this critical finding by Vermillion should also be considered a potential safety issue for ESD Workstation verification or certification post pandemic.
As above, the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Safety & Mission Assurance Manager introduced Bob Vermillion, Invited Speaker, for the 2024 NASA QLF, Cape Canaveral, Florida held on March 14, 2024 after a 4-year hiatus due to the COVID shutdown.
Bob's innovative presentation titled "Consequence of Dried-Out ESD Workstations Post Pandemic" was well-received by participants that included NASA, JPL, Ball Aerospace, Raytheon, NGC, Boeing and other federal contractors.
