3-Day Virtual iNARTE® Space & Defense ESD Program Monitor™ Certification Training from the RMV Lab at NASA for GSFC and GRC Civil Servants and Contractors

From March 3-5, 2026, Bob Vermillion, RMV CEO/Founder and the NASA ESD Technical Authority for the Agency, conducted a comprehensive, hands-on ESD Instrument driven certification training for a team of NASA civil servants and contractors from Goddard Space Flight Center and Glenn Research Center.

The iNARTE® ESD Space & Defense ESD Program Monitor™ training included ESD Workstation Class 0Z & 0A Safeguards, ESD Products and Packaging verification in the ESD Protective Area (EPA), Material Handling for transport to and from the lab, including Long Term Storage procedures after build and assembly of flight hardware. Suspect ESD Counterfeit products and protective packaging are an integral part of the training due to the high number of internet and offshore procurement of products that do not perform even in ambient conditions.

Space & Defense and Medical Device must use qualified products that are verified before use to ensure ESD compliance for extreme cold and hot conditions. Risk of injury to the soldier in theatre or an OR patient may cause injury or become life threatening.

The first line of defense for manufacturers, distributors or end users is Incoming Inspection and Material Handling that follows NASA-STD-8739.6B, Chapter 7 and vetted ESD Standards for compliance in extreme conditions, largely ignored for Space & Defense. Required Standards that meet low RH and extreme conditions are included in the SME training courses.

SAE Aerospace Standard AS6171/15 is a Work in Progress to benefit Government and Industry for Incoming Inspection and the handling of ESD Sensitive Devices for the laboratory, end user, manufacturer, distributor and government facility.

RMV courses are intended for Project Managers, Supervisors, ESD Program Managers, Avionics and Quality Engineers, Aviation Maintenance, lab technicians, US Army, US Navy and DLA Repair Depots, Distributors and GOCO facilities for individuals that package, handle, store,  transport and kit EEE sensitive parts for land, air, sea and space.
