Suspect Counterfeit COTS and the Grey Market

ISM & QA  Working Group

Supply Chain Quality Assurance Workshop

October 15 - 18, 2018

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

By special invitation from Los Alamos National Laboratory,  Bob Vermillion  will brief EFCOG members and interested parties on his "out of the box" findings and current trends on Suspect Counterfeits that influence  compliance for the global supply chain and Quality Assurance for Nuclear Power Management.

The grey market  is the frontispiece (title page) for non-conformance of sensitive electronic parts and packaging.  Whether big business farms out manufacturing to an offshore company or another business copies the original product (e.g. patent expiration), the opportunity to build a substitute product without conformance or lack of adherence to US Standards may seriously impact the risk levels for NASA, the DoD and the DOE.
