A Full House for ESD Aerospace & Defense Engineer Certification "Hands On" Training
- Moffett Field, California
26 - 30 March 2018
It was the best class ever for the "hands on" electrostatics training held on campus at NASA Ames Research Park for NASA ESD Program Managers and Engineers. Moreover, this year, RMV Technology Group, a NASA Industry partner, is now pleased to include support contractors for Agency programs throughout the USA. All in all, it was a very cohesive group with similar mission goals of lowering risk for NASA programs and projects throughout the Agency.
Kickoff for the NASA ESD Program Manager "Hands On" Training was led by the NASA Ames Engineering Directorate in combination with the Office of Safety & Mission Assurance.
Classes were held in the spacious Building 152 reserved for NASA conferences and training sessions in order to accommodate the growing number of participants for the ESD AeroSpace & Defense Engineering Training over an intense 5-day period with a challenging examination on the last day. Other "hands on" training took place in the RMV Technology Group laboratory in Building 19.
Topics ranged from the new, revised and amended NASA ESD requirements including updates on CubeSat Class A to D including R&D, risk levels for program success, Lessons Learned, Standards Updates, instrument training for SMA compliance and Risk Management.
Invited speakers included UC Berkeley Space Science Laboratory in addition to NASA Langley Research Center.
At the close of the 5-day "Hands On" Training Session, Bob Vermillion was presented with the Certificate of Scholarship Award for ESD Technical Leadership by the IAWG-ESD Committee Chair.
