ABSTRACT: First to present and first to publish on “Suspect Counterfeit ESD materials and packaging in the DOD Supply Chain,” Bob Vermillion will present on the impact of suspect and non-conforming packaging issues seriously impacting global logistics and materials management today.
Stepping back and taking a fresh look at the escalation of suspect counterfeits in the procurement process for product selection, Bob Vermillion will discuss the value of periodic verification of materials and packaging beyond 1st Article and the consequences of not having a program in place. Bob will provide demonstrations with examples of issues with solutions that one could implement for Incoming Inspection, Materials Handling and long-term storage of products.
As a first step, development of an Incoming Materials Inspection Program that goes beyond “visual” is critical today due to the increase in ecommerce buys, substitutions without traceability and lack of independent test data from an OEM or Supplier. And, sometimes counterfeit detection is missed during parts or component testing.
The net result is less dollars spent on unnecessary product testing while reducing non-compliant or suspect counterfeits in the supply chain. Equally important is Brand Integrity in a globally competitive marketplace.
Simply put, your first line of defense is to test the package.
