"Non-Compliant or Suspect Counterfeit  Packaging Materials: ESD Hazards, Long-Term Storage, Material Handling, Incoming Inspection, Repairs and Kitting Issues"

October 24, 2017

                      09:50 AM

A One-Hour  New User Training Session

                           presented by

                  Bob Vermillion, CPP/Fellow

iNARTE Certified ESD & Product Safety Engineer

You will want to attend Bob Vermillion’s innovative and thought provoking presentation on this historically ignored but very  Hot Topic on Suspect Counterfeit ESD Materials and Packaging  in the global supply chain.

In 2010, Bob Vermillion was the First to present and first to publish on Suspect Counterferfeit and Non-Compliant ESD Materials and Packaging in the DoD Supply Chain for the NASA Quality Leadership Forum, Cape Kennedy, Florida.

The rise in suspect counterfeit and non-compliant materials continues as evidenced by routine ESD Factory and Cleanroom Audits for Industry and Government.

Bob Vermillion, Founder, RMV Technology Group, a NASA Electrostatics SME and Innovative Industry Leader is first to pioneer the "first line of defense” Inspection Process must go beyond a "Supplier Technical Data Sheet."

Not only could the documentation be fraudulent, but the testing process could also be inaccurate, outdated and/or without any traceable data. Additional safeguards must be implemented to lower the risks associated with non-traceable and suspect counterfeit materials or packaging as with parts and components.

Passing over this critical first step by the traditional methods of reliance upon paperwork is no longer an option due to the sophisticated techniques by counterfeiters to  infiltrate the supply chain.

Simply stated, Incoming Inspection is two-fold in the "chain of custody" process. First is for the identification of counterfeits, and, second is for a reduction of taxpayer dollars that may be unnecessarily spent on parts testing already damaged or destroyed by non-compliant or suspect counterfeit packaging.

The Pentagon spend on testing is a billion dollar industry.  By implementation of a few additional steps for Incoming Inspection, both Industry and Government will benefit by additional cost savings and better quality standards for the protection of the Warfighter.

For pertinent details on an individual part, component, material or related accessory reported as counterfeit, you will learn the following:

What companies are involved in counterfeiting that are being reported?

What brand and type of components or parts are being counterfeited?

What brand and type of flexible material or packaging is being counterfeited?

What brand and type of electrostatic “ESD” material or packaging is being counterfeited and used in the assembly or manufacturing of a sensitive part or component.
